Laureola sp. “Durian Spiky” is an extremely rare and highly sought-after isopod known for its heavily spiked, armored body combined with a warm golden-yellow and brown coloration. Its earthy “durian-like” tones give it a natural yet premium exotic appearance, making it a standout among advanced collectors.
This species stays small to medium in size and is very demanding in captivity. It requires highly stable humidity, precise ventilation control, and a mature bioactive setup to maintain long-term health. It is highly sensitive during acclimation and does not tolerate unstable conditions.
Once established, it becomes a flagship collector species, valued for its rare morphology, strong earthy coloration, and elite hobby status.
Difference: Lemon Spiky vs Durian Spiky
Lemon Spiky shows a bright lemon-yellow dominant coloration, giving it a more vibrant and “neon-like” appearance. In contrast, Durian Spiky is golden-yellow mixed with brown tones, creating a warmer, earthier, and more muted look overall, with a natural forest-like aesthetic.
